Class days & times

What's offered

Three class tracks — musical theatre, dance, and acting — for ages 2 through high school, offered by age and grade level. Classes run Monday–Thursday, 4:30–9:30pm, with days and times varying by age group; all classes are held at the studio.

  • Fall semester — August 17 – December 17.
  • Spring semester — January 11 – May 15.
  • Based on 34 classes a year.

Every acting, dance and musical theatre class performs in the Fall showcase and the Spring production. Musical theatre performance teams (Troupe, Troupe Elite, and the JTF Team) re-audition each Fall, require enrollment in at least two class hours a week, and commit to the full season.

Private lessons are offered in voice, acting, dance, piano, guitar, and show/college audition prep, bookable weekly or bi-weekly or in blocks of 2–4. Summer brings half-day and full-day camps. Fall registration for 2026–27 opened July 1, 2026; registration is online through the school's portal.

Summer camps run as week-long half-day sessions and two-week full-day sessions through June and July, placed by the grade a camper completed in the previous school year. Categories offered: acting, dance, musical theatre, performance theatre, singing, tech and audition prep; tech camps cap at eight students. Most recently published: the 2026 season, which has finished — the studio posts each summer's dates ahead of the season and 2027 dates are not yet up.

Our take

Time to Shine is built around a structure worth understanding before you enroll: musical theatre, dance, and acting are taught as three distinct programs, each with its own curriculum and its own tuition line, rather than as one general performing-arts class. The musical theatre track splits every session into acting, singing, and dance portions — the "triple threat" framing the school uses. The dance program stands on its own, teaching ballet, contemporary, tap, jazz, and hip hop as separate techniques. The acting program works from a practical-aesthetics approach and produces a play each semester. A family can pick one lane or stack several, which matters because tuition is billed on a student's total weekly minutes rather than per class, with a monthly ceiling per student and another per family — so the third class costs meaningfully less than the first.

Everyone performs. Each acting, dance, and musical theatre class appears in the Fall showcase and the Spring production, which is a different promise from a studio where the recital is optional or the leads are cast from a select group. Above that sits a genuine competitive tier: the Troupe, Troupe Elite, and JTF performance teams re-audition every Fall, carry a minimum weekly training commitment, and travel to adjudication at the Junior Theatre Festival in Atlanta each January. Both doors are open at once — the school states that no prior performing experience is necessary, and the class ladder starts with toddlers. It is well-reviewed locally, and its summer camp programming is long-running enough that families in Keller plan around it.

Local Tips

The studio is on Kroger Drive in Keller, a straightforward drive from Southlake's west side. A few things that are easy to miss until you are registering:

  • Classes run Monday through Thursday evenings only, 4:30 to 9:30, so the whole schedule sits in the after-school block and there is no weekend option.
  • Tuition is monthly and calculated from total class minutes, but the fees that sit on top are separate: a registration fee per student, plus a performance fee charged twice a year for each acting, dance, or musical theatre class — and the performance-team fee is several times higher than the class one. Those are non-refundable, so it is worth totaling them before committing.
  • Camps are placed by the grade a child completed in the prior school year, not the grade they are entering, which trips people up.
  • The camp refund policy tightens on a schedule as the start date approaches, and the middle-school tech camp is capped at single digits, so it fills.
  • There is also a scholarship fund — a separate 501(c)(3) the school supports — that runs college and summer-camp applications on an annual cycle; both were closed for 2026 at the time of writing, so the thing to do is ask when the next cycle opens.
Credentials

The school does not publish staff biographies. Its own description of its teaching is that classes are led by professional educators, and that the private-lesson roster covers voice, acting, dance, piano, guitar, and audition preparation. Families who want to know who will be in the room with their child should ask directly.
