Our take

Southlake Music Academy has been teaching in town for more than twenty years, and it keeps the model simple: private, once-a-week lessons matched to the student, piano first, but covering guitar, drums, and voice from classical to contemporary. It's a single-location studio, and the pitch is a steady teacher and a weekly habit rather than a program you graduate through.

The practical flexibility is the draw: lessons run 30, 45, or 60 minutes and can be taken in person or online, which helps a family juggling a packed week keep a kid's lessons going even when getting across town doesn't happen. It fits students of any age — its stated mission is music education for students of all ages and levels — and there's a low-commitment way in with a free trial lesson before you sign up for a standing weekly slot. If you want a big performance-company operation with recitals at major halls, this isn't that; if you want reliable, personal instruction close to home, it's a solid fit.

Come summer there's a grade-banded camp track — piano, guitar, and vocal camps for elementary through high-school students — and the studio rents instruments monthly, with rental payments applying toward a purchase, which is a genuinely useful on-ramp before committing to buying a piano or guitar.

Local Tips

Southlake Music Academy is on the East Highway 114 corridor. A few practical notes:

  • Lessons are individually scheduled rather than run on posted studio hours, so you book a weekly time for your instrument.
  • The in-person-or-online option is real and worth using on a bad-weather or overscheduled week.
  • Instrument rentals are available by the month, which beats buying before you know a kid will stick with it.
  • The on-ramp is a free trial lesson — use it before committing to a standing slot.
  • The summer camps aren't held at the studio; they run on the campus of Grapevine Faith Christian School and register through that site.
Credentials

Southlake Music Academy is a single-location studio; its site does not name an individual owner or director. Lessons are taught one-on-one by the academy's instructors across piano, guitar, drums, and voice, spanning classical to contemporary styles, weekly in person or online. The studio's own site features parent testimonials praising a piano teacher named Sheri. Specific instructor credentials are not published on the site.
