Our take

Southlake Baseball & Softball Academy is a youth baseball and softball instruction center in Southlake, covering a wide age range under one roof — the academy says from a player's first T-ball swing through high school. It runs age-grouped weekly skills classes, from a Blast Ball intro for the littlest kids up through 14U, plus softball, along with private lessons, batting-tunnel rentals, camps and clinics, and an indoor Blast Ball league for preschoolers. It fits a beginner working on fundamentals as well as a player who wants extra reps in a cage, and the main thing to sort out is which program fits your player. It's independently owned.

Local Tips

A few things to sort out:

  • The academy spans a big range — from a Blast Ball class and league for preschoolers up through 14U classes and softball — so the first question is which program fits your kid.
  • Private lessons come in 30- and 60-minute lengths, and lessons, classes, leagues and parties are all booked through a family account with a signed waiver.
  • If you just want reps, you can rent a batting tunnel by the slot, one for yourself or several for a team.
Credentials

Southlake Baseball & Softball Academy names its coaches on its class and booking calendar: Royce Holder leads the 7 & Under All-Skills class, and Brendan Taylor leads Winter Blast Ball. Josh Renshaw is the academy's contact, at its listed email. The academy is independently owned.
