A private-lesson music and theatre school; the Southlake campus is housed inside Southlake Baptist Church and, at launch, runs on Thursdays. Music is the core: private lessons across brass, guitar, piano, percussion, strings, voice, and woodwinds, plus MusiksCOOL early-childhood music for the youngest learners and BandLIFE audition-placed performance groups (rock/pop, worship, and orchestra ensembles). Theatre is offered as private lessons — musical theatre, dramatic acting, and TV/film coaching — with group Theatre Techniques classes advertised as "coming soon." Enrollment is year-round rather than seasonal.

Our take

New Song School of the Arts is a music school at its core — it started in 1999 as a piano studio and grew into a multi-teacher School of the Arts — and its new Southlake campus reflects that: the live offering is private lessons across brass, guitar, piano, percussion, strings, voice, and woodwinds, plus a MusiksCOOL early-childhood music program for the youngest learners (the school teaches students as young as infancy) and audition-placed BandLIFE performance groups. Theatre is part of the school too, offered here as private coaching in musical theatre, dramatic acting, and TV/film, with group theatre classes advertised as coming soon.

Two practical things shape how you'd use it. First, this is a new, still-growing campus: at launch it runs on Thursdays and is recruiting "Founding Families," so confirm current days and openings before you plan around it. Second, it's an independent, owner-run school that happens to be housed inside Southlake Baptist Church — the church is the location, not the program; the instruction is standard private-lesson music and theatre training. If you want a broad private-lesson music program in town with a theatre option attached, it fits; if you specifically need group theatre classes now, those aren't running here yet.

Local Tips

The Southlake campus is inside Southlake Baptist Church on West Southlake Boulevard — a useful thing to know when you're looking for the door, since it's a wing of the church rather than a standalone studio. A few practical notes:

  • At launch the campus operates on Thursdays, so lesson slots are concentrated on that day for now.
  • Tuition is a flat monthly fee based on four lessons a month (billed on the 1st regardless of how many weeks fall in the month), with a one-time $25 sign-up fee, and the school offers virtual make-ups for missed lessons.
  • Package pricing is posted for the bundled programs, but standard per-instrument private-lesson rates live behind a filter on the school's pricing page, so it's worth pulling those up for the specific instrument you want.
  • The MusiksCOOL early-childhood classes and the BandLIFE ensembles, which you audition for are the school's signature group programs if you want something beyond one-on-one lessons.
Credentials

New Song School of the Arts was founded in 1999 and is owner-operated by Heather Parks (Founder and CEO, who teaches piano, theory, and composition) and Todd Parks (Owner and COO). Charles Gardner is Director of Education and Karlie Saumier is Director of Theatre. Its public instructor directory is password-protected, so individual teacher bios and credentials aren't available in its open materials; families should ask about the specific instructor assigned for the instrument or subject they want.
