Details

The 2026 summer season is concluded; its sessions included Harvest Art Camp July 20–23 (9 AM–12 PM or 12–3 PM) and Early Childhood Music Camp July 20–24 (12–3 PM), which the school's posts do not tie to a particular campus. The school runs a season of themed weekly music, theatre and art camps each summer, and says Spring Break camp returns in 2027 with details posted at the start of January.

Our take

New Song School of the Arts is a music school at its core — it started in 1999 as a piano studio and grew into a multi-teacher School of the Arts — and its new Southlake campus reflects that: the live offering is private lessons across brass, guitar, piano, percussion, strings, voice, and woodwinds, plus a MusiksCOOL early-childhood music program for the youngest learners (the school teaches students as young as infancy) and audition-placed BandLIFE performance groups. Theatre is part of the school too: acting, musical theatre, improv and audition preparation run at both the Argyle and Southlake campuses.

Two practical things shape how you'd use it. First, this is a new, still-growing campus, so confirm current days and openings before you plan around it. Second, it's an independent, owner-run school that happens to be housed inside Southlake Baptist Church — the church is the location, not the program; the instruction is standard private-lesson music and theatre training. If you want a broad private-lesson music program in town with a theatre option attached, it fits.

Local Tips

The Southlake campus is inside Southlake Baptist Church on West Southlake Boulevard — a useful thing to know when you're looking for the door, since the school is inside the church rather than in a standalone studio. A few practical notes:

  • Tuition is a flat monthly fee based on four lessons a month (billed on the 1st regardless of how many weeks fall in the month), with a one-time $25 sign-up fee, and the school offers virtual make-ups for missed lessons.
  • Private-lesson tuition is posted on the Southlake tuition page as a flat monthly rate for any instrument (30, 45 or 60 minutes), alongside the bundled package prices.
  • The MusiksCOOL early-childhood classes and the BandLIFE ensembles, which you audition for are the school's signature group programs if you want something beyond one-on-one lessons.
Credentials

New Song School of the Arts was founded in 1999 and is owner-operated by Heather Parks (Founder and CEO, who teaches piano and theory and is listed as a composer/arranger) and Todd Parks (Owner and COO). Charles Gardner is Director of Education and Karlie Saumier is Director of Theatre. Its public instructor directory is password-protected, so individual teacher bios and credentials aren't available in its open materials; families should ask about the specific instructor assigned for the instrument or subject they want.
