Math-only tutoring on a flat monthly membership rather than fixed class times: most students come 2–3 times a week and work within the center's instructional hours (Monday–Thursday 2:30–8 PM, Friday 2:30–6 PM, Saturday 10 AM–1 PM, and Sunday 1–4 PM; the office keeps longer weekday hours, Monday–Friday noon–8 PM). A diagnostic assessment comes first, then the center builds a personalized learning plan and recommends how often the student should attend. Sessions are available in-center, online, or a combination of the two.

Mathnasium does one thing: math. A child enrolls, takes a diagnostic assessment, and then works a plan aimed squarely at the gaps that assessment turned up — and because it's math-only, that plan stretches across the whole subject, from filling foundational gaps to homework help to STAAR, SAT, and ACT math prep. For a family whose kid is fine in most subjects but stuck in math, that single-subject focus is the whole point.

The model is a flat monthly membership rather than a per-session class, so attendance flexes to the child: most come two or three times a week and work at the center's tables with an instructor. It fits kids who need to catch up and kids who are ahead and bored — the plan is set to each. What the team keeps coming back to is the "Aha!" moment, the point where a concept a student has been fighting suddenly makes sense; if you want a warm, low-drama place that treats that click as the goal, it's a strong fit. If you're looking for a one-and-done tutoring session or a broad multi-subject program, this isn't that.

A practical note for a first visit: the assessment comes before anything else, and the recommended weekly frequency comes out of it — so the first conversation is about where your child actually is, not a sales pitch for a package.

The rhythm here is drop-in-within-hours, not a fixed class slot: membership buys two or three visits a week inside the instructional hours, so families tend to settle into a standing routine (say, Tuesday and Thursday after school) rather than a rigid schedule. Everything starts with the diagnostic assessment, so the first visit is longer than a normal session — build that in. In-center and online carry the same tuition, which is genuinely useful on a week when a kid is home sick but not too sick to do math.

Credentials

Mathnasium of Southlake is a math-only learning center staffed by a small instructional team. The Center Director, John, has been with Mathnasium since 2007, beginning as an instructor. The team includes Yvette, who holds a Mathematics degree from Texas Woman's University and an MBA from the University of Texas at Arlington and previously taught high-school math, and Assistant Center Director Megan, a 2020 Harding University graduate. The center is owned by Jennifer, a business owner and homeschooling parent who runs it alongside her husband, James. Instruction follows the Mathnasium Method, the curriculum developed by Mathnasium's Larry Martinek.
