Monthly dues are set by training group, with annual and per-swimmer fees on top.

  • Monthly dues: $107 (Red and Black stroke groups), $144 (Bronze), $156 (Silver), $176 (Gold), $207 (Age Group Select, Senior Prep and Senior), $238 (National Prep) and $245 (National); Lakeside Fit is $160.
  • A once-a-year LAC registration fee per household: $200 competitive, $100 pre-competitive.
  • A $100/year USA Swimming registration for Bronze and above.
  • A refundable $75 meet-entry deposit for Bronze and above, returned when the swimmer leaves.
  • Families with more than one swimmer get 10% off each additional swimmer's dues.
  • Dues bill on the 1st, with a $10 late fee after the 15th; a $6 transfer fee may apply if you come from another USA Swimming club.

What's offered

Year-round developmental swim lessons on a 10-level progression built around the four competitive strokes, with continuous advancement — swimmers move up when they master skills, not on a session calendar.

  • Small classes, max 5 swimmers per instructor; swimmers are evaluated on the first day for placement.
  • Class groups: Preschool (ages 3–5) and Youth (6–12) year-round; Parent & Baby (6 mo–3 yr) summer-only and Teen & Adult (13+) at the Justin site.
  • Fall lessons run in standard 8-class sessions across four windows from early September through mid-December, typically Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday.
  • Class times and exact dates vary by location and are posted on the club site.
  • Competitive squads swim two meet seasons a year, each published as a club calendar: short course from mid-September to early March, and long course from April into early August. Most meets are at host pools around North Texas, though the club hosts some in Southlake, and the long-course calendar runs on to national-level meets for swimmers who qualify.

Games · Around two dozen meets in all. Most are weekend invitationals at host pools around North Texas — Mansfield, Garland, Northwest ISD, Arlington, Lewisville, Frisco and Nolan Catholic — plus an open-water race at Lake Marble Falls and two invite-only Super League dates for non-high-school swimmers. The club's calendar marks each meet as LAC-hosted, team travel, or parent travel, and entry is gated by USA Swimming time standards that vary by meet, from B/C up to AA. A few dates are still to be confirmed.

Our take

Lakeside Aquatic Club is a competitive swim club first, and its lesson program is the on-ramp to that. The pitch is a clear ladder: a 10-level developmental progression built around the four competitive strokes, then an invitation to the pre-competitive Stroke Team, then tryouts for the USA-Swimming club team. Since 2012 the lesson side, under director Sarah Crouch, has moved thousands of kids from basic water safety toward real technique, with swimmers evaluated on day one and advanced whenever they master skills rather than on a fixed session clock.

It fits a family that wants their swimmer on a track, not just comfortable in the water — the whole design points toward competition, and the coaches are candid that a kid starting at 11 or 12 has a longer road onto the team. It's less the choice for a casual, one-summer learn-to-swim. And practically, it's a travel decision for Southlake: the pools are in Keller, Justin, and Lewisville, so you're driving to a regional club, not a neighborhood one.

Local Tips

Lakeside doesn't have a home pool — it rents water at ISD and city aquatic centers across North Texas, and the site nearest Southlake families is in Keller. A few things shape enrollment:

  • Every swimmer is evaluated on the first day for placement.
  • Advancement is continuous (you move up when you master skills, not when a new session starts).
  • Classes cap at five swimmers per instructor.

Registration runs through the club's how-to-register page rather than a walk-in signup — and because location and time availability vary by site, it's genuinely worth a call before you commit.

Credentials

The lesson program is led by Swim School Director Sarah Crouch, who has 25 years of teaching experience in North Texas and has spent the last 11 building LAC's lesson program; she holds a degree in Classics from the University of Dallas and coached previously for Irving Swimmers, NTAC, and NTN. Site supervisors include Bailey Chryst (Keller), who swam competitively at LAC for six years and now trains with its Masters team, and Julie Wardlaw (Justin), a lifelong competitive swimmer. The club overall runs from novice lessons to Olympic-level training under a full competitive coaching staff.
