The office takes most major credit cards and Dental PPO plans, and names Careington, Delta Dental, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Dearborn National, Guardian, MetLife, United Healthcare PPO, United Concordia and Principal Dental Select among them. It says it accepts most out-of-network insurance too, and it takes the DentaQuest and MCNA Medicaid plans. There is a cash discount plan, and third-party financing through Sunbit or Cherry, subject to credit approval. The cost of treatment and your payment-plan options are discussed before treatment starts; for Invisalign, paying in full by cash or check earns a courtesy discount. No fee list is posted, so ask about your plan when you call.

Our take

Grapevine Kids is two specialties under one roof. A board-certified pediatric dentist handles the checkups, cleanings, fillings and extractions, and a board-certified orthodontist handles braces and Invisalign, so a child can go from a first checkup to braces without changing offices. The orthodontics is for all ages, adults included, which means a parent weighing Invisalign can be seen in the same place.

It suits a family that would rather talk through treatment in Spanish: the practice says its orthodontist and many of its staff speak it. It also suits a child who has a hard time in the chair. Beyond laughing gas, the office offers oral sedation and general anesthesia, the second given in the office by a licensed anesthesia provider, and it starts with a sedation consultation that goes through your child's health history. On Google it is well-reviewed by a large number of families.

One practical point for budgeting: it takes Medicaid dental plans as well as most PPO plans, so it is worth a call whichever kind of coverage your family has.

Local Tips

The office is on South Main Street in Grapevine, about three miles southeast of Town Square, and the practice names Southlake and Colleyville among the families it serves. A few things help before the first visit.

  • You can look around first. The practice invites families to stop by for a tour, meet the team and walk through the treatment rooms before booking.
  • Bring the completed patient form and your insurance card to the first appointment. The intake, medical-history and privacy forms are posted in English and in Spanish.
  • Plan on 20 to 40 minutes for most appointments; the practice says a full exam with cleaning takes about 45.
  • Brothers and sisters have somewhere to wait. There is a room where your child can watch a show or play on a tablet while you do the paperwork, and a quiet room where the rest of the family can wait during treatment and still get to the patient.
  • Office hours are on the practice's Facebook page, not its website, so call, or use the request form, which asks which weekdays and whether mornings, afternoons or evenings suit you.
