Cambridge Letters posts prices for its AP Institute courses and takes bookings online — its Aug/Sept 2026 AP Biology Rapid Review is $540. No rate is published for the test-prep programs or for academic tutoring; both quote on enquiry, and the online plans area is password-protected. Cambridge Letters offers a complimentary introductory consultation on each of its services.

  • Test prep (Friske Test Prep): three fixed-hour programs — SAT/PSAT and ACT at 40 hours each for students in or entering 11th and 12th grade, and a 26-hour Test Prep Fundamentals for 9th and 10th graders that diagnoses both exams so a student can pick which one to target. All three open with a diagnostic; the two full programs add up to six further full-length practice tests, Fundamentals up to three. Sessions cap at five students and are scheduled around each student's commitments.
  • Academic tutoring (Friske Tutoring and Test Prep): grades 2 to 12 in math, science, writing and grammar, plus preparation for STAAR, CogAT, ITBS, ASPIRE, ISEE, SSAT and Credit by Exam.
  • Admissions and AP (Cambridge Letters): admissions advising, career counselling, and an AP Institute of weekly rapid-review sessions, summer seminars and proctored practice exams. Its AP Biology Rapid Review for Aug/Sept 2026 started August 16; the site no longer publishes a session day, time or attendance cap.

The studio is open Sunday–Thursday, 4–8 PM in the school year and 1–7 PM in summer.

Our take

Four members of the Friske family work out of the same suite two blocks west of Town Square, and between them they cover a student from second grade to a college acceptance letter. Tyler Friske, MD runs the test-prep side and teaches every session himself, capped at five students: SAT/PSAT and ACT programs of 40 hours for students in or entering 11th and 12th grade, and a 26-hour Fundamentals course for 9th and 10th graders that runs diagnostics for both exams so a student can work out which one to target. Every program opens with a diagnostic, and the results drive a written learning plan rather than a fixed syllabus. Southlake Style readers voted Friske Test Prep first place for College Prep in the 2026 Readers' Choice awards.

The other two arms extend that range in both directions. Kathy Friske's tutoring covers grades 2 through 12 in math, science, writing and grammar, along with STAAR, ISEE, SSAT and Credit by Exam preparation, so a family that arrives for fourth-grade math help is already in the building when test prep comes around. Zachary Friske's Cambridge Letters handles the far end: admissions advising, personal statements, mock interviews, an AP Institute that runs weekly rapid-review sessions and summer seminars, and career counselling for students aiming at medicine, law or engineering.

One thing to sort out before you call. These are three separate businesses that describe themselves as a family partnership, and each keeps its own contact. The phone and email on this listing reach Tyler and the test-prep studio. Tutoring goes through Kathy directly, and admissions and AP work go through Cambridge Letters, which runs its own site and booking page.

Local Tips

The suite is at 700 E Southlake Blvd, Ste 180, two blocks west of Southlake Town Square. A few things worth knowing before you enquire:

  • Posted hours are Sunday–Thursday, 4–8 PM in term time, shifting to 1–7 PM over the summer. There are no Friday or Saturday sessions.
  • Test-prep programs are sold as whole blocks of hours rather than by the session, so enrolling is a commitment made up front rather than something you sample first.
  • The pricing is split. Cambridge Letters posts rates for its AP Institute courses and takes bookings online; test prep and tutoring quote on enquiry, and the online plans area is password-protected.
  • Cambridge Letters offers a complimentary 20-minute consultation on each of its services, by phone or video, which is the simplest way to work out which arm you actually need.
Carroll ISD Connection

The Carroll tie runs two ways. Tyler Friske graduated from Carroll Senior High School in 2011, ranked third in a class of 582 and a National Merit finalist, so he sat these exams as a Carroll student before building a business around them. Cambridge Letters is also scheduled to run a session on beginning an AP course for the CISD AP Boosters at Carroll Senior High, with the date still to be announced.

Credentials

Tyler Friske, MD is the founder and the only instructor at the test-prep studio. He graduated from Carroll Senior High School in 2011, ranked third of 582, as a National Merit Scholarship finalist with an SAT of 2380 (the site notes this is equivalent to 1590 under the current composite scoring) and a perfect ACT of 36; he holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University (2015, summa cum laude) and an MD from Baylor College of Medicine (2019). Kathy Friske, who runs the tutoring arm, is described as an educator with over 25 years teaching in the local community. Zachary Friske, ALM, MBA, IEC founded Cambridge Letters and covers graduate and undergraduate admissions advising and AP testing, and the team also lists Michael Friske, a former USAF captain, as its U.S. service academies advisor.
