Camps
Dates

The summer program runs from late May to early August, with the fall semester starting the following week. The camp runs as themed weekly programs with flexible week-by-week enrollment rather than one continuous block, and the centre posts field trips through each week.

Cost

Most recently published, for summer 2026: full-day camp (8 AM-5 PM) runs $219 a week for three days, $259 for four and $299 for five, with multi-week packages from $836 (four weeks, three days) to $2,079 (eleven weeks, three days) and an $80 drop-in day. Vendor-run specialty camps are $130-$200 - chess, karate and princess dance priced by the week, soccer per person - or $280-$350 bundled with the Excel camp. Pre-K summer rates are set per classroom and by days per week, $178-$355, plus a $30 weekly activity fee. All of it is published on the school's separate camp site rather than its main site.

Our take

Excel Academy is an independently owned, single-site preschool on West Southlake Boulevard — not a franchise, which shows in how the day is put together. It runs full-day, 7 AM to 6 PM, year-round, on the Children's Learning Institute curriculum out of UTHealth Houston (a specific, research-based program aligned to Texas Education Agency standards), and it carries the state's top child-care quality rating, Texas Rising Star four stars.

The age span runs from infants at six weeks through Pre-K, in small rooms capped around a dozen children, then continues into an on-site after-school program for kids up through 5th grade. What sets the preschool day apart is that five enrichments — Taekwondo, dance, Spanish, gymnastics, and chess — rotate through it as part of tuition rather than à-la-carte add-ons, and children get hot, catered meals. Parents follow the day through the Procare app.

Who it's for: families who want an independent preschool that teaches to a set curriculum with a genuinely full day and enrichment included, rather than a franchise or a part-day program. The after-school side, with pickup from area schools, makes it a fit for a household that needs one place to cover a preschooler now and an older sibling after dismissal. Pre-K and after-school tuition are posted; school-year rates for infants and toddlers are not (summer camp rates are, on the camp site), so ask.

Local Tips

The practical draw here is that the five daily enrichments — Taekwondo, dance, Spanish, gymnastics, chess — are woven into the school day at no added charge, which is worth pricing against anywhere that bills them as extras. A few more things:

  • Classes are small (toddler and Pre-K rooms cap at about 12), and the curriculum is named: the Children's Learning Institute program from UTHealth Houston, which you can look up.
  • The on-site after-school program runs preschool through 5th grade with homework help and transport from area schools, so a preschooler and an older sibling can land in the same place.
  • Meals are hot and catered, and daily photos/updates come through the Procare app.
  • Enrollment is a tour (booked through the site) plus an application; ask about openings by age band, since rooms are capped.
