The practice accepts all dental PPO insurance plans, verifies eligibility and files the claims for you; parents are responsible for anything the plan does not cover. It takes personal checks, debit cards, most major credit cards and CareCredit, and payment is due at the time of service. The cost of treatment depends on each child's treatment plan, so call the office with insurance or payment questions before the visit.

Our take

The sedation options are the thing to know about Davis Pediatric Dentistry. Beyond laughing gas, the practice brings an anesthesiologist into the office for IV sedation, which it describes as a common route for children who need more extensive treatment or a calmer way through it. For a child whose health conditions call for a hospital setting, Dr. Davis is on staff at Texas Pediatric Surgery Center in North Richland Hills and can treat there under general anesthesia.

The other policy that shapes a visit is the open door. Parents are welcome to come back to the chair with their child, which the practice frames as help for a nervous kid, and a parent who would rather not can spend the appointment on the square instead. Kids pick a movie to watch during the visit, play video games while they wait, and leave with a prize. The practice follows children from first teeth through the teen years, and teens 15 and older can get in-office ZOOM whitening once they are six months out of braces. Braces themselves are not done here: the practice's own age guides say to ask Dr. Davis for a referral when a child needs orthodontic treatment, early or comprehensive.

To get started, the online appointment request goes to a scheduling coordinator, who calls back to confirm a time.

Local Tips

Davis Pediatric Dentistry is upstairs on Town Square, right above Sugarboo & Co. and UNTUCKit and across the street from Milwaukee Joe's and Starbucks. A few practical notes:

  • Stay or shop. Under the open-door policy you can go back with your child, or spend the appointment on the square.
  • Plan around lunch and Fridays. The office closes for an hour at lunch every day and is closed on Fridays.
  • Print the patient form first. New families are asked to print and fill it out before the first appointment.
  • Answer the text. Reminders go out by text; if you don't reply, the office calls the day before.
  • After hours, call the main number. The voicemail gives the emergency line, which reaches the on-call doctor or staff member.
  • Want a look first? The practice invites families to stop by for a tour of the office.
