2026 spring/school-break camps: MLK Camp (Jan 19), School's Out Camp (Feb 16), Spring Break Camp (Mar 16-20), School's Out Camp (Apr 3), Memorial Day Camp (May 25). The 2026 summer camp series ran seven week-long sessions (June 1–August 7, ages 6–12, 10 AM–3 PM, lunch provided). Holiday-break camps also run; the academy hosts 50+ camps, clinics, and classes a year.

D-BAT DFW is a baseball and softball training academy, and the distinction that matters is right there: it's a place to get better, not a team or a league. It's the Southlake unit of the national D-BAT brand, so the model is a familiar one — an indoor, climate-controlled facility built around instruction, batting cages with pitching machines that throw real balls, memberships, and a heavy camp calendar.

The core is private lessons. A staff of hitting and pitching instructors works with players at every level, and the academy deliberately pulls parents into the lesson rather than parking them in the lobby, on the logic that the coaches can't be at the games and need the feedback. Around the lessons sit cage time you can book by the hour or use freely as a member, and a busy slate of school-break camps and one-skill clinics. Who it isn't for: a family looking for a team to play on or a rec league to join — D-BAT trains the player, and the games happen somewhere else.

Local Tips

D-BAT is on South Nolen Drive. A couple of things set expectations:

  • The membership choice is the main decision: the lower tier suits a kid who mostly wants to hit on the machines about once a week, while the higher tier is built for a player taking a weekly lesson and bundles unlimited machine time with a lesson discount — so which one pencils out depends on whether you're buying reps or coaching.
  • Rates for individual lessons, cage rentals, and camps beyond the memberships aren't posted, so plan to call for those.
  • Camps cluster on school breaks — MLK Day, the February and April school's-out days, Spring Break, and Memorial Day, with summer camps on top — which makes the academy a common school's-out landing spot for a ballplayer.
Credentials

D-BAT DFW's lessons are taught by a staff of hitting and pitching instructors — among them Toni Goodman, Dave Klipstein, Dalton Brown, and Rachelle Ohlhaber — who work with players at every level; the academy's stated method brings the parent into the lesson for feedback, since the instructors don't see the player in real games.
