Our take

Bybee College Prep & Tutoring is a Southlake test-prep and college-counseling practice, founded and run by Shane Bybee, a longtime classroom teacher. It works with college-bound high-schoolers on three fronts: standardized-test preparation through a structured 30-plus-hour SAT/ACT boot camp; one-on-one tutoring; and college admissions and application support, including a College App Camp focused on essays. Its pricing is posted by program rather than hidden behind a quote, and it opens with a free introductory consultation, in person or online, to map out a plan. It also runs free weekend practice SAT and ACT sittings. It's an independent, owner-run practice rather than a national franchise, and it's veteran-owned. For a Southlake family, it's an in-town option for a student who wants a specific test-score or college-application push with a clear program and price.

Local Tips

A few practical notes:

It's an in-town Southlake practice on East Southlake Blvd (Suite 61), so it's convenient for Carroll ISD families without a drive.
Start with the free introductory consultation — offered in person or online — to get a plan before committing to a program.
It runs free practice SAT/ACT sittings on weekends (Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons), a low-cost way to get a baseline score.
Pricing is posted up front by program (the SAT/ACT boot camp and the College App Camp).

Credentials

Bybee College Prep is built around its founder, Shane Bybee, who brings 31 years of teaching experience spanning seventh-grade English through AP Language and Composition. He founded the practice while earning a master's degree in Educational Leadership, holds Gifted and Talented certification along with AP and IB coursework, and has served on test-item review committees and created content for major test-prep firms. He is an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association and a founding member of the National Test Prep Association, and he served in the U.S. Army Reserve, concluding his service as a first lieutenant. The practice is owner-centric; its published materials name Shane as the lead and reference additional coaching support without detailing other instructors.
