What's offered

Classes run on 8-week semesters (Fall 2026 enrollment is open), grouped by age and level: Kids I (ages 3–5), Kids 2 (6–8) and Kids 3 (9–11), Teen Studio Drawing/Painting/Figure/Portrait/Watercolor (ages 12+ to adults), and a summer Teen Portfolio Prep program (ages 12–18) for AP/college/scholarship portfolios. At the Roanoke location the Fall 2026 weekly grid runs weekday afternoons and evenings (roughly 4:30–9 PM, with the youngest Explore Art classes earliest and Teen Studio classes later) plus Saturday daytime sessions; open-studio blocks run Wednesday and Friday evenings. Both small group classes (5–15 students) and semi-private/private lessons are offered. Seasonal camps run in summer (weekly themes, June–August), spring (STEAM + Art), and winter, alongside single-session workshops. Our take

Art Wheel Studio has been family-owned since 2004 and teaches a classical, academic approach to drawing and painting. Instruction runs as a sequence of 8-week semesters grouped tightly by age and level: Kids I introduces three-to-five-year-olds to art through games and good habits, Kids 2 and Kids 3 build drawing and painting fundamentals across a rotating curriculum, Teen Studio Drawing and Painting take students into classical realism and technique, and a Portfolio Prep class helps older teens assemble AP, college, and scholarship portfolios.

The adult side runs drawing, painting, figure, portrait, and watercolor, and classes come as small groups or as semi-private and private lessons. The curriculum is built so a young beginner can progress all the way to portfolio-level work over successive semesters. For families not ready to commit to that, the studio runs camps in the summer, spring (a STEAM and art camp), and winter, plus single-session workshops. Classes are held at two family-run locations, in Roanoke and Frisco.

Art Wheel Studio has two locations — Roanoke, at 300 Bowie Street, and Frisco — and for a Southlake family the Roanoke studio is the close one, a short drive northwest. A few practical notes:

  • Classes run as 8-week semesters grouped by age and level, so it is a season-by-season commitment more than a drop-in; Fall 2026 enrollment is open.
  • Registration is an online form that asks which location you want and prompts a call-back consultation, rather than a self-serve class calendar, so you sign up and a teacher follows up to place your child.
  • Group classes are small (5–15 students), and semi-private or private lessons are available for students working on competition or portfolio pieces.

Camps run in summer (June through early August), spring, and winter, and there are single-session workshops through the year if you want to try the studio before committing to a semester.

Credentials

Art Wheel Studio was founded in 2004 by Liliana Nedzelska and Stanislav Nedzelsky as a family-owned studio. Liliana holds a master's degree in Art Education and Art History and is a published children's book illustrator; Stanislav holds a degree in Architecture from Syracuse University and is a professional artist who has been a finalist in international competitions. Both work as professional artists, with pieces in private collections and experience in murals and commissions. The teaching staff are experienced artists and educators, and all staff members undergo background checks.
